Privacy Policy

Interngro (“we” or “us”) runs interngro.com, a website that helps high school students find internships and summer programs and helps organizations reach those students. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.

If you're under 18, we encourage you to read this with a parent or guardian.

• Account details: your name, email address, password, and whether you're a student or an employer. Your password is stored in scrambled (hashed) form by our login provider, so we can't see it.
• Student profile: your school, graduation year, skills, interests, and a short bio. You can also add a profile photo, phone number, and location.
• Resume: if you upload one, we store the file and the details pulled from it, such as experience, education, skills, and awards, so you can review and edit them.
• Applications: the answers you give when you apply to a listing. These are your phone number, where you're based, whether you're authorized to work and need sponsorship, your earliest start date, weekly hours, preferred work setting, prior experience, an optional portfolio or LinkedIn link, and why you're interested.
• Employer details: the organization's name, description, website, and location, plus the listings you post.
• Messages to us: anything you send when you email us.

• Staying logged in: your browser stores a login token so you stay signed in. We also record when you last logged in. We don't use advertising cookies, analytics tools, or trackers.
• Server logs: like most websites, our hosting and database providers record basic technical details when you use the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of each request. This keeps the site running and secure.

When you tap “Near me,” your browser asks whether to share your location. If you allow it, your location is used only inside your browser to sort opportunities by distance and center the map. It isn't sent to our servers or saved to your account.

Map images come from OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address and the area of the map being shown, as with any online map. To place opportunities on the map, our server looks up each opportunity's address, never yours, using OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service.

• To create your account and log you in.
• To build your profile and fill it in from your resume.
• To send your application to the employer you choose.
• To show you opportunities, including on the map.
• To send account emails, such as confirming your email address. We won't send you marketing email unless you ask for it.
• To keep Interngro safe: preventing spam, fake listings, and misuse, and enforcing our Terms of Use.
• To fix problems and improve the site.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we never sell it.

When you upload a resume, your browser reads the text out of the PDF or Word file. That text goes to our server, which picks out details like your experience and education to fill in your profile.

Today this runs entirely in our own code, and your resume isn't shared with an outside AI company. If we ever start using an outside AI service for this, we'll update this policy before we do, and we'll only use a service that doesn't train its models on your resume.

• Employers you apply to. When you apply, the employer who posted that listing can see your name, email address, full profile (including your photo, school, graduation year, bio, skills, interests, phone number, and location), and your application answers. They can't open your resume file, and they can't see your profile at all unless you've applied to one of their listings.
• Other users. Listings, including the organization names on them, are visible to anyone who's signed in. Students can't see other students' profiles.
• The Interngro team. The people who run Interngro can access account data to operate the site, help you when you ask, and look into safety problems.
• Service providers. A few companies help us run the site and handle data only to provide that service:
  • Supabase, for logins and our database
  • Vercel, for website hosting
  • OpenStreetMap Foundation, for map images and address lookups
  • Google Fonts, for the site's fonts, which your browser downloads
  • An email delivery service, for account emails
• Legal and safety reasons. We may share information if the law requires it, or if we believe it's needed to protect someone's safety.
• If Interngro changes hands. If Interngro is merged or acquired, your information may move to the new owner, who must follow this policy or tell you about changes first.

We keep your information while your account is open. When you remove your resume, it's deleted from our database right away. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll delete your account, profile, resume, and applications within 30 days, unless we need to keep something to follow the law or resolve a safety issue. Technical logs kept by our providers expire on their own schedules.

• See and edit: update your profile any time after you log in.
• Remove your resume: remove or replace it from your profile.
• Delete your account: email hello@interngro.com from the address on your account.
• Get a copy: email us to ask for a copy of your information.
• Location: you can decline location sharing, or turn it off in your browser settings, and still search by city.

Depending on where you live, for example California, you may have extra legal rights to know, correct, or delete your information. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever they live. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it. We'll reply within 30 days and may need to confirm the request came from you.

Interngro is for students 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and if we learn that someone under 13 has signed up, we'll delete the account.

Parents and guardians can email hello@interngro.com to ask what information we have about their child, or to have it deleted.

Connections to Interngro are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed by our login provider, and our database has access rules so each person can reach only their own data, plus the limited applicant information employers see as described above.

No website can promise perfect security. Please use a password you don't use anywhere else, and email us right away if you think someone got into your account.

Interngro is run from the United States, and our providers store your information on servers in the United States.

Curated opportunities link to programs run by other organizations. When you follow one of those links, you leave Interngro, and that organization's privacy policy covers anything you give them.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect.
